Belize City Tour(2 hours)

A comprehensive tour of the old capital will take approximately 2 hours, depending on traffic. The City remains the commercial and cultural capital of our nation with almost one third of the country's population calling it home. The tour will take you from the historic Fort George area as your guide gives commentary as you travel from North side over to the historic South side of the City and visit everything between.

Points of interest will include St. John's Anglican Cathedral, Government House, Baron Bliss Grave Monument , the Swing Bridge , and many other features which are part of the City's rich history.

You will finish the tour back at The Wet Lizard where you can relax and enjoy a great lunch or perhaps just a snack and a free tropical drink.

City & Brewery Tour (3 1/2 hours)

Departing from the Wet Lizard you will enjoy a guided tour around the South Side of Belize City which will encompass many points of interest before heading out on the Northern Highway for 9 miles to the village of Ladyville and the Belikin Brewery.

This is a very modern facility with state of the art technology which will be explained during the tour. After being confused by all the technicalities we can ease your mind by taking you to the hospitality suite where you can sample as much of the product as you wish while enjoying light snacks.

Unfortunately all good things must come to an end and after about an hour at the bar it will be time to head back and complete the tour of the North Side of the City before returning to the Wet Lizard for a complimentary glass of party punch.

Altun Ha Maya Site
3 ½ hours)

Departing from The Wet Lizard, you will travel through Belize City heading out of town on the Northern Highway for 20 miles where the tour will take you a further 11 miles along the very narrow old Northern Highway to the archeological site of Altun Ha. Translated as "Water of the Rock", one of the largest carved jade artifacts in the Maya world was found here during excavations. An important trading and ceremonial centre, the site is easily accessible featuring two main plazas with thirteen temples.

The Belize Zoo (3 ½ hours)

Located on at 29 miles on the Western Highway , the Belize Zoo is in may ways a misnomer as it is more an education centre. All the "guests" are indigenous to Belize and have been either rescued or donated from domestic situations which got out of hand. The original motivation was to care for animals used during filming who could no longer fend for themselves in the wild.

Kept in spacious compounds of their natural habitat are many endangered species which include jaguars, tapirs, black howler monkeys and much more. A great trip for the whole family.

Cave Tubing(6 hours)

Departing from the Wet Lizard, it is about a 1 hour drive to the Jaguar Paw. Here you will be given a safety briefing and orientation before being issued with headlamps and tubes. A short hike through the forest and the fun begins. Your guides will assist with getting you comfortable and waterborne before the float through the caves begins.

This is a blast in itself with the bonus of seeing Mayan artifacts which have been discovered and left in place. The guides (known as river rats!), will be on hand at all times to ensure your safety and to answer any questions you may have.

After the float it will be time to change into dry clothing and get back into the vehicle for the short trip to a local establishment for a traditional Belizean lunch. Time enough to enjoy the food and discuss the adventures of the day before returning to Belize City.

Xunantunich & the Belize Zoo (7 ½ Hours)

This is a great combination of archeology and natural history. Departing from Belize City , the tour will head out for 29 miles on the Western Highway to the Belize Zoo. This Zoo is very well done and it's "guests" have either been rescued or donated from domestic situations that have gotten out of hand. All indigenous to Belize , the animals are well cared for in large compounds of their natural habitat. Your guide will escort the tour around the well laid out facility explaining exactly what is on display. The tour of the Zoo will take approximately 1 ½ hours after which the journey west will continue.

There will be a stop for a lunch of local cuisine before the final leg of the journey ending in the village of San Jose Succotz in the Cayo District. Here passengers must disembark the vehicle which will drive onto a hand cranked ferry to cross the Mopan River. A novel experience, guests often help the man in charge to do the cranking!

Once on the other side there is another mile to drive to the Maya Site of Xunantunich(Maiden of the Rock), on of the largest ceremonial centers in the Belize River Valley . At nearly 130 ft, El Castillo is the tallest structure at the sight and can be seen for miles around. Being built on a limestone ridge, the panoramic view from the top of the pyramid is stunning. Your guide will explain the significance of the various glyphs, stellae and the site in general.

On completion of the tour you will then head for the coast and return to Belize City.
